Choosing the appropriate HIDE kit is straightforward. Before purchasing your kits, you should understand what service points you are covering around your home and the thickness of the material you intend to insert into the HIDE Cover.

1. Identify the Access Covers required

Determine the specific access points you need to conceal around your home/project:

  • Swimming Pool Skimmer Box
  • Drain Covers (for surface water drainage)
  • Service Point Covers in your hardscape: to name only a few:
    • Electrical junction points
    • Plumbing service/inspection points
    • Irrigation switches
    • Lighting Access
    • Sewerage covers
    • Any external inspection point for easy access

2. Measure and list each point's most extensive length, width, or diameter.

Ensure the HIDE kit's underside opening measurement is larger than the inspection point (A table with this measurement is available). Ensuring the opening is large enough allows components like a pool skimmer basket to pass through easily or plumbing caps to be unscrewed and removed without hassle when the HIDE cover is lifted.

Note: All HIDE covers are square to simplify installation and seamlessly integrate with tiles at the finished surface level. There is no need to worry if your service cover is round, such as a pipe or round cover plate. Once the HIDE kit is installed, the round service opening will be completely concealed beneath the deck surface.

3. Know your material thickness

HIDE kits are designed to accommodate various inlay materials, such as stone, tile, decking and concrete. Identify the thickness of your chosen material to select a compatible kit that is equal to or, in fact, slightly deeper than your material. This allows room for the Adhesive.

  • Concrete Decks: All kits that are 40mm in depth come with concrete snap-in 'lugs' and 'key-slot' formers', making them suitable for wet-pour concrete applications.
  • All concrete kits have a depth of 40mm, which is ideal for concrete.
  • Concrete infill covers are available to be used as Skimmer Covers and Access Covers.

Understanding HIDE Product Codes

HIDE product codes provide essential information about the size and depth of the cover. Here are a few examples:

Skimmer Covers

Code example:

  • HSL306-10 HIDE Skimmer Lid, 306mm x 306mm square, suitable for inlay materials 8-10mm thick.

The Range: HSL306-10, HSL306-20, HSL306-30, HSL306-40

The size 306mm square will suit all Skimmer Box Openings in your area and accommodate inlay materials from 10mm to 40mm thick.

Access Covers

Code example:

  • HAC206-40 HIDE Access Cover, 206mm x 206mm square, suitable for inlay materials up to 40mm thick.

The Range: Access Covers come in a wide range of sizes and the same depths as skimmer Covers depths.

Sizes are all square: 156mm, 206mm, 256mm, 306mm (306mm also used as a skimmer cover) all suitable for inlay materials up to 40mm thick.

Drain Covers

Code example:

  • HDC314-20: HIDE Drain Cover, 314mm x 314mm square, accommodates inlay materials from 12mm to 20mm thick.

The Range: HDC314-10, HDC314-20, HDC314-30, HDC314-40

The size 314mm square is the only drain cover size available.

Additional Considerations

  • Pedestrian Traffic: HIDE kits are designed for pedestrian use only.
  • Earthing Requirements: For installations around swimming pools, consult a licensed electrician to determine if an earthing wire should be attached to the HIDE Edge Protector.
  • Acid-free product: Never allow any acid ever to contact stainless steel. Ensure the pool builder, contractor, and homeowner all understand this will cause the stainless steel to collect surface rust, which is known as 'tea staining,' and degrade the product.

By carefully evaluating these factors, you can select the HIDE kit that best suits your project's requirements, ensuring your outdoor space's cohesive and durable finish.
