Safe Operation of a HIDE Cover

Proper use and safe handling of your HIDE Cover is essential to maintaining its longevity and ensuring user safety. This section provides key guidelines on:

  • Opening & Closing Safely: The correct method for using the HIDE Safety Key and handling the lid.
  • Weight Considerations: Understanding load capacities and best practices for lifting. Important tips to prevent damage or injury.
  • Routine Maintenance: Keeping your HIDE Cover in top condition for long-term performance.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the safe and efficient use of your HIDE Cover while preserving its premium quality and design.

Single Key Safe Operation

If you are using a HIDE Skimmer Cover, be sure to turn off the pool pump first. Be aware of the golden rule – NEVER open a skimmer with the pump running.

Opening a HIDE Cover safely

Step 1:

Insert the Safety Key and turn to 90° so it locks onto the back of the lid. Pull the key upwards to lift the lid edge to a 90° position.

Step 2:

Hold the raised edge of the HIDE lid firmly in one hand. Release the Safety Key and set aside.

Step 3:

Grip the HIDE lid with your other hand, and lift with both hands until completely free. Gently set down the lid to the side, away from the opening.

Caution:

REMOVE the lid completely before accessing the uncovered recess. DO NOT leave nearby children unattended while the lid is removed.

Closing a HIDE Cover safely

Turn the pump off

Set the Safety Key within easy reach.Using both hands, grip the HIDE lid on either side and raise upwards.

Step 1:

Lower the HIDE lid at a 90° position, so the side without the key slot is inserted first. Hold the HIDE lid in position with one hand at the side of the lid.

Step 2:

Insert the Safety Key while holding the HIDE lid in position. Move your supporting hand away and gently lower the raised edge using the Safety Key.

Step 3:

ENSURE fingers/toes are not under the lid when lowering. ALWAYS return the Safety Key to a child safe, secure, stored location.

Double Key Safe Operation

If you have ordered a HIDE Kit that requires two keys, follow these simple lifting instructions. Kits 40mm in depth and above come with two keys, and need to be lifted upwards with two keys.

Opening a HIDE Double Key Cover Safely

Step 1:

Insert both Safety Keys and turn to 90º so they lock into the back of the lid.

Step 2:

Lift vertically, just enough to clear the recess.

Step 3:

Set safely aside. Do not carry the lid at a height.

Caution:

REMOVE the lid completely before accessing the uncovered recess. DO NOT leave nearby children unattended while the lid is removed.

Closing a HIDE Double Key Cover Safely

Step 1:

Using both hands, grip each Safety Key, keeping them at a 90º position.

Step 2:

Position the lid above the recess and lower down vertically.

Step 3:

Remove both Safety Keys and store away from children.

Caution:

ENSURE fingers/toes are not under the lid when lowering. ALWAYS return the Safety Key to a child safe, secure, stored location.

RESPECT THE KEY

Wielding the HIDE Safety Key is a powerful thing :)

The HIDE Safety Key is designed to open and close the lid, protect children from accessing the recess, and ensures 100% pool safety (when used correctly with a HIDE Skimmer Cover).

But there is one thing the Safety Key shouldn’t do, and that’s carry the full weight of the HIDE lid.

The power is in your hands – engage those muscles to carry the lid, not the key.

Child Safe Tips!

Because HIDE skimmer pool safety hinges on the Safety Key, be sure to use your smarts when opening and closing the lid.

Keep them seperated

NEVER leave the HIDE Safety Key in the lid for any reason. The key is not specified or designed to remain in the lid. If left in the lid it creates an unsafe environment for children.

Store Safety Key securely

ALWAYS store the HIDE Safety Key out of reach of children, in a secure, childproof location. Return to safe storage after use.

Safe access

DO NOT leave nearby children unattended while the HIDE lid is removed. Actively discourage children from playing in or near the HIDE access area.

Ban little fingers

NEVER allow children to operate the HIDE Safety Key or the lid itself. This is a job for adults!

Weight Considerations

Understanding load capacities and best practices for lifting.

When lifting a HIDE Cover, it's essential to consider your personal strength and comfort levels. Always ensure you are lifting a weight that feels manageable to you. To protect your back, adopt proper lifting techniques: keep your back straight, bend at your knees, and lift using the strength of your legs. Prioritise safety by taking all necessary precautions to prevent injury.

Routine Maintenance

To maintain your HIDE Cover's stainless steel components in optimal condition, consider the following care tips:

  • Rinse the stainless steel parts with clean, fresh water frequently to remove debris and reduce the effects of pool chemicals.
  • Do not use bleach or acidic cleaners, as they can damage the protective layer of stainless steel, leading to corrosion.
  • Opt for soft cloths or sponges when cleaning to prevent surface scratches. Avoid abrasive materials like steel wool.

By adhering to these guidelines, you can ensure the longevity and appearance of your HIDE Cover's stainless steel elements.
