HIDE EU/UK Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Skimmer Lids Pty Ltd (trading as HIDE), 26 Link Drive, Yatala QLD 4207, Australia, is the data controller for the personal data collected through our European sales channels, including the HIDE Shopify store and related services (“Service”).
As we are established outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we have appointed an EU Representative in accordance with Article 27 GDPR.
2. Scope
This Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard “personal data” of individuals in the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the UK in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and the UK GDPR.

- Legal obligation – to comply with EU/UK VAT and consumer-protection laws.
- Legitimate interests – to secure our Services, prevent fraud, improve our products, and answer enquiries (balanced against your rights).
- Consent – for email marketing or non-essential cookies; you may withdraw consent at any time.
5. How we use the data
- Process and deliver your orders; calculate VAT automatically through Quaderno – Tax & VAT Automation.
- Provide customer support and warranty services.
- Send service communications (e.g. order confirmation, shipping updates).
- With your consent, send newsletters and promotional offers.
- Analyse site usage (e.g. Google Analytics) to improve performance.
6. Sharing your data
We disclose data only:
- to trusted service providers (Shopify, payment processors, logistics partners, Quaderno) under data-processing agreements;
- to authorised HIDE distributors where you purchase or return goods locally;
- when required by law or to protect our rights;
- in the event of a restructuring or sale of our business (with appropriate safeguards).
We never sell your personal data.
7. International transfers
Your data may be stored on secure servers in Australia and other jurisdictions. Where data is transferred outside the EEA/UK we rely on:
- European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs); or
- an adequacy decision; or
- another lawful derogation under GDPR Art. 49.
8. Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies to operate the cart, remember preferences and measure traffic. Non-essential cookies (analytics/marketing) are set only after you grant consent via our cookie banner, in line with the e-Privacy Directive.
9. Analytics & conversion tracking
We employ Google Analytics and similar tools that set first-party cookies to compile anonymised usage statistics. You can opt-out at any time via our cookie settings or by installing the Google opt-out browser add-on.
10. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes listed above, including legal, accounting and reporting obligations (typically seven years for VAT records).

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, alteration or loss. No internet transmission is completely secure; please use the Service at your own risk.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 years in the EEA (or 13 years in the UK) without parental consent, in line with GDPR Art. 8.

Content you post publicly on our social channels may be visible to others. Our Service may link to third-party sites; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
