Description

Stop compromising the finish around the skimmer. HIDE Pool Skimmer Covers are concealed, flush-fitting skimmer lids designed to support your chosen tile, paver, stone, concrete or decking inlay for a seamless pool surround.

They’re a premium alternative to visible, bulky skimmer lids — and to improvised, unsupported stone or tile cut-outs that can crack over time. HIDE’s 316 stainless steel frame and lid system supports the inlay, protects surrounding edges, and sits neatly flush underfoot.

Opened with the HIDE Safety Key, HIDE provides secure access to the skimmer basket for routine cleaning and long-term outdoor performance.

Key benefits

  • Seamless inlay finish (patterns continue through the lid)

  • Flush underfoot (clean, level finish around pools)

  • Strong edge protection and support (reduces cracking risk)

  • Secure access (Safety Key helps prevent unwanted lifting)

Availability note: Some sizes/options are currently shown in grey and can’t be selected. These are not standard stocked items in Europe at this time. If you need one of these options, please contact HIDE — we can advise on availability and use your request to guide future European stock.

Care Guide

A little regular care will keep stainless steel looking its best.

Regular cleaning: Rinse stainless steel parts with clean, fresh water frequently to remove debris and reduce the effects of pool chemicals.

Avoid harsh chemicals: Do not use bleach or acidic cleaners, as they can damage the stainless steel's protective layer and cause tea staining.

Why choose a HIDE skimmer cover?

Upgrade to a concealed, flush skimmer cover that matches your surrounds. HIDE supports your tile, paver, stone, concrete or decking inlay with a purpose-built 316 stainless steel frame and lid system—delivering a clean finish, secure access, and long-term durability.

A safer cover

Improvised stone or tile cut-outs are often unsupported and can crack over time. HIDE’s stainless frame and edge protection support the inlay and protect surrounding edges, helping maintain a clean, durable surface in high-traffic pool areas—especially where people walk barefoot.

A) Product Order Code

The product order code for a HIDE Kit indicates the product type, size, and depth. For example, HSL306-10 is a HIDE Skimmer Lid, 306 mm square, suited to infill materials 8–12 mm thick (10 mm nominal).

B) Material Depth

Choosing the right HIDE Kit starts with knowing the depth of your chosen material to be infilled into the cover.

From the Material Depth column (B), choose a HIDE Kit that will suit the thickness of your material.

C) Infill Cover Size

The HIDE Infill Cover securely holds your chosen surface material for a seamless finish. It lifts easily to provide discreet access to the concealed service points. See the installation instructions for more technical detail.

D) Infill Cover Internal Depth

This measurement indicates the maximum infill cover depth for this kit. Add together the thickness of your chosen surface material and the adhesive (up to 3 mm) to ensure they fit within this depth, allowing the cover to sit perfectly flush (as per installation instructions). The kit includes adhesive and an optional 2 mm acrylic height adjuster, which can be used to fill any excess void between the infill material, adhesive, and the base of the cover.

E) Frame Size

The Frame Size (E) refers to the overall external dimensions of the frame, which determine the total footprint of the kit. This measurement is used to calculate the required recess size in the surrounding surface. Note: Leave a 1-2 mm expansion gap around the frame, filled with flexible filler, to allow for seasonal expansion.

F) Frame External Depth

The frame’s External Depth is greater than that of the infill cover. This extra depth means the bedding or substrate beneath the frame must be recessed during installation to accommodate the frame’s profile. Correct preparation ensures the frame sits flush with the surrounding surface, providing a precise fit and maintaining the overall seamless finish of the HIDE Cover.

G) Frame Access Opening

The Access Opening is the clear opening within the frame that allows the skimmer basket and other components to pass through freely when the Infill Cover is removed. When selecting the correct kit, consider this dimension alongside the depth to ensure suitability.
HSL306 = 280mm square
HSL412 = 358mm square

Important tip: The HIDE Cover can and should be larger than the size needed. It does not need to be an exact fit. It is installed over the service point, and once the cover is removed, the services are at their original size. See the Gallery as a better example of this.

H) Electrical Compliance

Conductive components near pools

Stainless steel components (e.g., HIDE Edge Protector and tray) are conductive. Local regulations in many European countries require supplementary equipotential bonding of fixed metal parts within the pool safety zones. Where required, the Edge Protector includes a bonding/earthing hole to accept a licensed electrician’s bonding connection.

Important: Requirements vary by country and installation. HIDE does not provide earthing/bonding design. Consult a licensed electrician to assess local code obligations and complete any bonding.

Retrofit with HIDE

Can I upgrade my old landscape lid to a HIDE Cover?

Absolutely! HIDE Skimmer Covers suit both new builds and retrofits. The Edge Protector sits in its own recess and is deeper than the inlay tray, so allow extra depth (External Depth - column F in the table above) in the bedding/recess so the top of the Edge Protector finishes perfectly flush with the surrounding tile/pavers.

For retrofits, remove the old lid, mark out the opening, and cut/recess the surround deep enough to accommodate the selected Edge Protector plus a mortar bed for levelling.
